With more than 25 years of experience in engineering and aquaculture, he has built a career centered on integrating technological solutions that enhance production efficiency and environmental performance in aquaculture systems. Since 2011, he has led Oxzo’s international expansion, promoting the development and deployment of patented innovations originally developed in Chile and now implemented in aquaculture operations across several markets, including Chile, Norway, and Canada. His work focuses on aligning technical and strategic teams around goals related to productivity, animal welfare, and operational efficiency, promoting technologies capable of delivering measurable results in aquaculture production, such as increased biomass yields, reduced mortality, and optimized production cycles.

Dr. Alex Romero is a Biochemist and PhD in Science with a specialization in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Universidad Austral de Chile. He currently leads the Laboratory of Immunology and Stress in Aquatic Organisms at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and is an Associate Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR²). His research focuses on fish defense mechanisms against stress and pathogen infections, as well as the development of natural additives to improve fish health and resilience.

He has held top leadership positions in major salmon farming companies, focusing on corporate strategy, operational efficiency, sustainability, and governance.
