Alin Casado Zelaya is a professional with solid experience in animal health, functional nutrition, and health management in aquaculture, with a strong focus on salmon farming and the integration of evidence-based solutions. In her role as BioFarm Health Manager at BioMar Chile, she leads the development and implementation of health strategies that combine nutrition, monitoring, production management, and data-driven decision-making, contributing to improved productive performance and the sustainability of farming systems. Her work focuses on the prevention and control of health challenges, the strengthening of animal welfare, and the reduction of reactive treatments, promoting a comprehensive approach that links research, technological innovation, and on-site application. Throughout her career, she has actively participated in knowledge transfer processes between science and industry, collaborating with technical teams, producers, and stakeholders across the aquaculture ecosystem. Within the context of the AQUASUR International Congress, her participation provides an applied perspective from health and nutritional management, contributing to the discussion on how disruptive technologies, analytics, and information integration can transform aquaculture production toward more efficient, responsible, and sustainable models.

Morten Miller, PhD, is an entrepreneurial microbiologist and CEO with extensive experience in applied enzymatics and rapid microbiological detection technologies. As co-founder of biotechnology companies developing patented, US-EPA-verified methods for microbial quantification in water systems and indoor environments, he is the author of 30 scientific publications and holder of three international patents.
Specialist in microbiology and molecular genetics, with a focus on diagnostics, genetic sequencing, and scientific advisory for industry.
Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Aquaculture from the University of Stirling (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), a Diploma in Financial Aquaculture from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), Mexico, and a B.Sc. in Oceanography from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), Mexico. Since joining the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 1996, he has led sustainable aquaculture development initiatives in more than 45 countries. He currently serves as Fisheries and Aquaculture Officer at the FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Santiago, Chile, where he promotes innovative policies and solutions to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of the sector in the region.
