Morten Miller, PhD, is an entrepreneurial microbiologist and CEO with extensive experience in applied enzymatics and rapid microbiological detection technologies. As co-founder of biotechnology companies developing patented, US-EPA-verified methods for microbial quantification in water systems and indoor environments, he is the author of 30 scientific publications and holder of three international patents.
Senior executive with extensive experience in the Chilean aquaculture industry. He has held top leadership positions in major salmon farming companies, focusing on corporate strategy, operational efficiency, sustainability, and governance. His career has been marked by driving organizational transformation, strengthening international market positioning, and navigating complex regulatory and competitive environments.
He holds a degree in Microbiology from the University of Oslo (1989) and has built an extensive international career in aquatic animal health and aquaculture policy. He began his professional career as a scientist at the Norwegian Veterinary Institute, focusing on fish health and disease prevention in aquaculture. He later served in several roles within the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture, including Head of the Animal Health Unit. He subsequently joined the European Commission (DG Health and Consumer Affairs), where he was responsible for developing the EU legislation on aquatic animal health. From 2017 to 2019 he chaired the FAO COFI Sub-Committee on Aquaculture and, since 2020, he serves as Director General and Head of the Department of Aquaculture at the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.
Veterinarian with extensive experience in fish health and nutrition, primarily within the Chilean salmon industry. He currently serves as Technical Manager at Salmones Antártica S.A., overseeing key areas such as fish health, quality control, environmental management, and quality assurance.
