His professional career has been dedicated to addressing key health, biosecurity, and sustainability challenges within the global salmon industry, integrating applied research, technical innovation, and industry collaboration. He has worked closely with academic institutions and private sector companies in Chile, the United Kingdom, and Norway, developing a comprehensive understanding of salmon production systems across different regulatory and operational frameworks. Early in his career in Chile, he served as a consultant on projects aimed at reducing antimicrobial use and implementing animal welfare policies. Since 2021, he has led the Health and Food Safety area at INTESAL (Salmon Technological Institute), where he has directed and supported high-impact innovation and research projects for producers and industry suppliers. In this role, he provides technical guidance to SalmonChile members, facilitating the translation of scientific knowledge into practical, field-oriented solutions. His expertise includes the design and articulation of research initiatives based on active data analysis, contributing to sustainability-driven technical programs, regulatory compliance advancement, and the strengthening of food safety standards throughout the Chilean salmon value chain.

Dr. Tomás Pérez-Acle, PhD, is a computational biologist whose research focuses on the development of computational models to study complex biological phenomena through interdisciplinary approaches integrating biology, mathematics, physics, and chemistry. He has published nearly 70 Q1-indexed scientific articles, book chapters, and patent applications in areas such as computer-aided drug design, nanotechnology, and robotics. He currently serves as Full Professor and Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies at Universidad San Sebastián.
