26 exhibiting companies form the Pavilion of Denmark at Aquasur to expand their network, meet new and existing partners and discover new trade possibilities in Chile and rest of South America.
South America is a growing market for Danish and international suppliers to the aquaculture industry, and Aquasur is an important trade fair for ambitious companies who are looking to expand their export activities in South America.
“We have brought Danish exhibitors at the Pavilion of Denmark to Chile and Aquasur for many years, and it’s always a great place to be. This fair is where the most important stakeholders meet and Danish companies covering the entire value chain will present their products and solutions,” says Martin Winkel Lilleoere, Head of Fish Tech at Danish Export Association, who organize the Danish pavilion.
Strong presence and gentle conveying
One of this year’s exhibitors is Simatek Bulk Systems who has been present in South America for the last 30 years and are very well acquainted with Aquasur and the South American market.
The company that specializes in mechanical conveying of fragile products using a patented feeding system, traditionally has fish feed producers as their customers. In recent years, Simatek Bulk Systems has also experienced increasing interest from fish farmers who are looking to handle the feed with as much care as in the production facilities.
“The fish farmers wish to avoid damaging and crumbling of the feed which can lead to waste and pollution of the water. Many feed producers are now demanding that the farmers use more gentle conveying systems,” says Jakob Schou Jensen, Key Account Manager at Simatek Bulk Systems.
In 2023 Simatek Bulk Systems bought Danish company Graintec who had already an office in Chile. This has contributed to a strong presence in the South American region, and one of the goals for Aquasur is to catch up with existing business partners and to meet new potential partners in Chile as well as other South American countries.
From trade fair to sale
Another Danish exhibitor, who is a bit newer to the Chilean market, is FoulingCure. With innovative and patented technology that can clean plate heat exchangers during operation, the company has solved challenges that have plagued the aquaculture industry for years, where dirty heat exchangers mean energy loss, or chemical cleaning potentially poses a risk to fish stocks.
For FoulingCure trade fairs often open doors and lead more or less directly to orders and new business partnerships. Aquasur is no exception.
“We meet end customers when we attend trade fairs. Here we have the opportunity to demonstrate and explain the value of the product, and we can talk to several stakeholders in the same company. We participated in Aquasur 2024 where we met with a potential customer. Afterwards the customer placed an order, and our system is now installed and up and running at a Chilean fish farm,” says Steen Petersen, partner at FoulingCure.
