Happy Salmon Award 2026: driving innovation focused on fish welfare Within the framework of the AQUASUR 2026 International Congress, the second edition of the Happy Salmon Award once again places animal welfare at the center of the salmon farming agenda. This joint initiative between Salmonexpert and FISA recognizes companies, projects, or technologies that, through science-based indicators, demonstrate a concrete contribution to improving the quality of life of farmed fish. The award, to be presented on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, seeks to promote solutions aligned with the industry’s current challenges and a long-term vision toward more responsible and productive practices. The call is open to legal entities, national or international, whose developments offer significant contributions to animal welfare in salmon farming. The evaluation process includes a thorough review by a panel of academic and industry experts, assessing aspects such as the relevance of the problem addressed, applicability of the solution, technology employed, field results, and productive impact. Preselected initiatives will have the opportunity to showcase their proposals in Salmonexpert magazine, after which three finalists will present their solutions during the award ceremony. In addition to symbolic recognition, the prize offers tangible benefits for the winner, including an advertising plan across Salmonexpert platforms throughout 2026, an official award, and an exhibition stand at AQUASUR 2028, enhancing the visibility and scalability of innovations that contribute to a more ethical, sustainable salmon farming industry aligned with international standards.
