Don't miss the opportunity to participate in the largest aquaculture event in the Southern Hemisphere!
The world’s most important aquaculture fair took place in Norway. Aquasur sent a delegation to learn more about it.
Between August 19 and 22, a new edition of Aqua Nor took place in Trondheim, Norway, organized by the Nor-Fishing Foundation. Held since 1979, it is considered the most important exhibition in the global aquaculture industry.
The event featured presentations by the most important companies in the sector, talks, and innovations in the field of aquaculture. There were debates on taxation, biosecurity, and animal welfare, as well as awards such as the prize for pioneering technology for sex classification and health control of fish using medical ultrasound and artificial intelligence tools.
Delegations from different countries also participated. Chile was one of them, led by Chile’s Deputy Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Javier Rivera; Chile’s ambassador to Norway, Hellmut Lagos; and the director of ProChile Los Lagos, Ricardo Arriagada. Chile also had a stand at the fair, which hosted eight export companies from the Los Lagos region, selected following a call for applications by ProChile.
FISA and GL events present at Aqua Nor
Carola Fuentes and Rodrigo Lobo, general manager and manager of institutional relations and business development at FISA and GL events, respectively, were present in Trondheim with the aim of connecting with industry leaders ahead of AquaSur in March 2026.
At the meeting, Fuentes and Lobo had the opportunity to meet with the CEO of the Nor-Fishing Foundation, Kristian Digre, and the general director of the exhibition, Kari Steinsbø, to discuss the challenges of both exhibitions and opportunities for mutual cooperation.
AquaSur, which has already sold 60% of its space, is projected to be the southern hemisphere’s equivalent of Aqua Nor. In this regard, Carola Fuentes pointed out that “It is very important to have been in Norway because our fair, Aquasur, is a platform similar to Aqua Nor for the southern hemisphere. So, coming to Trondheim to strengthen ties with the organization opens up many possibilities for us to enhance collaboration, learn about what is being done well, and bring this knowledge to Chile to deliver the best experience to those who attend Aquasur next year.”
