The competition, promoted by Aquasur, Fisa de GL events Chile, AquaGroup, and InfoSalmon, exceeded all expectations in terms of participation.
The entrepreneurial ecosystem of the aquaculture industry has sent a powerful signal of dynamism and capacity for innovation. The organizers of the “Despega Tu Emprendimiento” (Launch your Venture) competition officially announced the close of its second edition, reaching a milestone with more than 50 companies from different regions of the country applying to participate.
After a rigorous evaluation process, 26 SMEs and startups were selected to join the Aquasur 2026 SME Zone, which will take place between March 24 and 26 in the Los Lagos Region. This space, located in the heart of the fair, will allow companies to present their technological solutions and services to the industry’s leading global decision-makers.
The positive response to this call for entries reflects the need to build bridges between emerging innovation and major buyers in the industry. In this regard, Rodrigo Bastidas, manager of Aquasur, expressed his satisfaction with the scope of the competition: “We are positively impressed by the level of the solutions presented. Receiving more than 50 entries confirms that Chile has a very powerful engine of aquaculture innovation.”
“We thank each and every entrepreneur who took the time to enter the competition. Their talent will enable us to increase the productivity and sustainability of the sector as a whole,” Bastidas continued. The 26 SMEs and startups selected will have a subsidized stand at the most important aquaculture exhibition in the southern hemisphere.
Meanwhile, Mario Núñez, Project Manager at AquaGroup, highlighted the value of those selected: “Selecting only 26 companies was a huge challenge due to the high technical quality of the projects. The goal now is for those selected to take full advantage of the networking activities and access to funding sources that we have prepared for them at the fair. We are eager to see them connect with major buyers of supplies and services.”

The contest organizers, comprising Aquasur 2026, Fisa de GL events Chile, AquaGroup, and InfoSALMÓN, would like to publicly thank all the companies that participated. The overwhelming response to the call for entries, even though places for the SME Zone are limited, demonstrates that Aquasur is the most important launch pad for the aquaculture industry at the national level.
The selected companies will now begin a period of formalization, technical preparation, and logistics to ensure that their visit to the Los Lagos Region in March will be the definitive boost to their commercial growth.
