Dear aquaculture community:

For Editec Publishing Group it is a pleasure to organize, once again, the AquaSur 2018 International Fair, the most important aquaculture event in the Southern Hemisphere, which takes place in Puerto Montt (Los Lagos region) between Wednesday 17 and Saturday 20 October.

For the tenth version of this aquaculture fair, we look at a much more mature industry regarding the productive and normative but also establishing closer ties with the community and the actors living in the water front.

In addition, while in the north of Chile, the advancements in fish farming such as Chilean Seabass and Seriola are noticeable, the efforts being made in mollusks and a great diversity of algae are highlighted.  Meanwhile in the south, we see how salmon farming activity is growing in the extreme south with the arrival of new companies.  We are confident that more and more Chileans will benefit from the positive externalities of this activity.

In order to continue advancing in the necessary search for sustainability, the aquaculture industry will have to adopt new technologies that allow to reduce its production costs and environmental impacts. This is precisely what AquaSur’s 11,500 m2 exhibition center offers, with more than 300 stands representing nearly 1,000 companies from all five continents.

In this context, we will once again hold, within AquaSur, the International Conference Aqua Forum, an event that will be held on Thursday 18 October and which, through prominent speakers, considers a comprehensive program that addresses the main challenges facing the activity.

All of the above is complemented by various meetings and exhibitions of national and international authorities, as well as the technical lectures given by some of our exhibitors.

We hope that both exhibitors and visitors will be able to take advantage of this international scenario in the best possible way, with the aim that our industry will continue to grow and contribute more to the national economy.

Wish you a successful AquaSur 2018.
